Alternatives to blog promotion online

Blog promotion is one of the most important aspects of getting yourself heard on the web. Without people knowing about your great content, they will not read it.
I have written posts on blog promotion, but here is a new ideas that is, well, a little out the box – imho anyway.
Advertise your blog on TV!
Anyone who has ever looked into TV advertising would have to say – “What? On a blogger’s budget? Are you mad?” Conventional TV advertising is expensive to say the least. And then you still have to worry about the cost of producing the ad and not just flighting the ad.
Enter Google TV. Yes, in their quest for world domination, Google enter the TV market! You can make your own “YouTube” type of video and buy a TV ad spot for as little as $20.
Naturally, I am looking at this from a South African perspective, so I think it would have very little impact on local markets, but if you are marketing affiliate products to the US – it is a good idea.
I found out about Google TV from CopyBlogger – a great source for copy writing posts. Here is an extract I found interesting:
The average American watches anywhere from 3 to 5 hours of television every day. That means people spend around 13 years of their life in front of the tube.
That sounds a bit sad, but one thing the statistics don’t mention is that more and more people, especially bloggers, spend a lot of that time multitasking. They’re sitting on a couch with the TV on and a laptop open.
Further down the post, author Dean Rieck of Pro Copy Tips, gives the following advice about creating your TV ad:
If you’re going to promote your blog, and you don’t want to spend a fortune, you need to keep your ad simple and direct. No fancy stuff. Your goal is to get people curious enough to go to your blog. So follow this simple formula . . .
- Get attention.
- Present a problem.
- Offer a solution.
- Direct people to your blog.
Read the full post – it is a very well written post with tons of info crammed into it.
Get some other advice on writing the script for your TV ad.
